Description

The Family Medicine Residency Program at Akron General Medical Center was established in 1970, one of the first in Ohio. Proud tradition and exciting vision combine to provide an educational center of excellence, known for compassionate, state-of-the-art care. A broad family medicine curriculum places additional emphasis on ambulatory care, procedures, pharmacology and patient education. The ever-changing business of medicine is stressed with a two-week block rotation in addition to an advanced longitudinal approach to practice management. Dynamic faculty members are committed to teaching medical students and residents to prepare for future practice. Akron General Medical Center has been named one of the nation's most wired and most wireless hospitals and one of the best hospitals in U.S. News and World Report's 2009-10 publication of America's Best Hospitals. Ours was the first residency center in Ohio to offer Web visits to our patients. The family medicine residency center was honored as Akron General Medical Center Department of Year for 2009.
